Essential Oils

 

Anise  (Pimpinella anisum)- This essential oil can be used as an aphrodisiac, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, decongestant improving breathing, pain reliever and helps with depression.  It blends well with Bay, Cardamom, Cedarwood, Tangerine, Petitgrain, and Rosewood.

Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)- It is believed to help relieve muscle aches and body pains, reduce stress, deodorize and disinfect. Sun skin sensitivity, can cause a nasty sunburn.  Consider using a Bergaptene Free when adding to products that will stay on the skin. Bergamot blends well with Cypress, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, and Ylang Ylang. 

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)- Essential oil for stress relief, aromatherapy, anti-inflammatory, aphrodisiac and scalp problems. Blends well with any citrus oils, lavender, cypress, frankincense, geranium, rose, vetiver, and sandalwood.

Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus)- Essential oil for making an insect repellent salve. Besides repelling insects, this essential oil is good for reducing inflammation, pain relief, deodorant, contains antibacterial properties that a great for acne and household cleaner/deodorizer. It blends well with cedarwood, clary sage, eucalyptus, geranium, lavender, lemon, peppermint, rosemary, and tea tree.

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)- This essential oil is excellent for chest rub relieves congestion and eases breathing. It is a purifying, cleansing and clarifying essential oil.  It is believed to have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, and antiseptic qualities. Blend well with all mints; cedarwood oil, geranium oil, lavender oil, lemon oil, and sandalwood. 

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)- Lavender is very helpful to relax and promote peaceful sleep. It is believed to have anti-bacterial qualities, relieve muscle spasms, and also to balance hormones. Can be blended with just about anything.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus)- Lemongrass essential oil helps relieve tension, ideal for muscular aches and pains.  It is known as the “fever grass” to help reduce fevers. Helps reduce inflammation amongst many other uses.  It can be blended with eucalyptus, geranium, lavender, rosemary and tea tree essential oils.

Patchouli (Pogostemon Cablin)- This essential oil has antiseptic and aphrodisiac qualities. It has been said to help with skin irritations, acne, and eczema. It blends well with myrrh oil, sandalwood oil, geranium oil, lavender oil, clary sage oil, cypress oil, lemon essential oil, and cinnamon oil.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)- Essential oil for relieving tired muscles, clarifying and mental alertness.  It helps relieve nasal congestion, reduce fever, and relieve joint pain.  Rosemary blends well with Lavender, most mints, citruses and well as frankincense. 

Spearmint (Mentha spicata)- Spearmint essential oil is multi-purpose, and it is used to soothe skin problems, headaches, nausea, respiratory issues, and cold symptoms. Spearmint blends well with Lavender, Rosemary, Basil, Peppermint, and Eucalyptus.

Tangerine (Citrus reticulate)- This essential oil helps with creativity, increase well-being and happiness, and increase energy. It can cause skin sensitization and avoid direct sunlight after applying.  Blends well with bergamot, clary sage, lavender, lemon, lime, and patchouli.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)- Essential oil to be used for antiseptic, antifungal, antiviral applications. Can be used directly on the skin but keep away from mouth area, it can be toxic.  It can cause skin sensitization and avoid direct sunlight after applying. It blends well with cinnamon, clary sage, clove, geranium, lavender, lemon, rosewood, rosemary, and thyme.
